We simply could not choose one, so we are offering two of our favorites from Louise Hay this month...
"If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you." and "I do not fix problems. I fix my thinking. Then problems fix themselves." | ![]() |
Louise Lynn Hay (October 8, 1926 β August 30, 2017) was an American motivational author, professional speaker and AIDS advocate. She authored several New Thought self-help books, including the 1984 book You Can Heal Your Life, and founded Hay House publishing.
π World of wellness updatesβ¦
Last month we highlighted the massive size of the global consumer wellness market (reminder: $5.6T and growing rapidly), which is evidence that we are taking our health and well-being into our own hands. Within this giant market, a lot is happening, including the growing trend of pilgrimage -- a more spiritual form of travel -- recently highlighted in The Global Wellness Summit's The Future of Wellness 2024 Trends Report.

"One silver lining that came out of the pandemic is people around the world rediscovered the simple joys and health benefits of walking and connecting with nature. Today, trail-blazing enthusiasts are dramatically expanding their horizons by exploring ancient pilgrimages, fueling a global trend as record numbers of travelers take up multi-day hikes infused with spiritual exploration and cultural heritage in countries around the world."
While nearly half a million pilgrims completed the famous Camino de Santiago in Spain in 2023 (a new record), scores of modern pilgrims were also drawn to off-the-beaten-path sites in Japan, such as the Shikoku 88 and the Michinoku Coastal Trail, as well as buzzy destinations in Sri Lanka, Bhutan, India and Italy. I personally spent five life-changing days trekking to Buddhist monasteries in Bhutan, a country that literally measures Gross Domestic Happiness.
From a wellness perspective, this trend has serious legs: a pilgrimage is a metaphor for the path to enlightenment, engendering slow, meditative travel, and facilitating deeper engagement with our surroundings to foster a sense of awe. With loneliness now an epidemic in America, taking a long walk or pilgrimage might just produce unexpected encounters with strangers that lead to a deeper connection to self and others! π£
